Initially focused on France and Lebanon, the two historical homes of the Group, the Foundation has expanded its horizons to other continents in 2019 under the presidency of Tanya Saadé Zeenny.

Brazil

Brazil

In 2024, with the support of the CMA CGM Foundation, the NGO Gol de Letra, founded by former footballer Rai, acquired  new premises in Vila Albertina, São Paulo, officially inaugurated on May 6, 2025. This new educational center now welcomes over 200 students each year, offering artistic, theatrical, personal development, and vocational workshops.
In partnership with CEVA Logistics, the Foundation also launched a three-year logistics training program in April 2025. This 160-hour course trains 60 young people annually in core logistics skills such as handling, warehousing, and distribution.

The center also hosts a bakery and pastry school.

United States of America

American Red Cross

In 2023, the Foundation  joined the American Red Cross’s “Annual Disaster Giving Program », committing financial and logistical support to strengthen the organization’s capacity to assist vulnerable communities. This partnership leverages the CMA CGM Group’s industrial resources and logistics expertise to support the Red Cross’s missions across the U.S.

 

Salvation Army

In 2023, the CMA CGM Foundation launched the “Giving Across North America” (GANA) initiative in partnership with The Salvation Army to fight food insecurity. This first edition enabled the distribution of 133,000 meals across the U.S. and Canada.
Building on this success, the Foundation significantly expanded the initiative in 2024, transforming it into a major annual campaign to distribute more than 500,000 meals each year in five major U.S. cities: Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Norfolk, and Miami.
More than 150 CMA CGM Group staff members support these meal distribution events as volunteers throughout the year.

 

Americares

In 2024, Americares joined the Foundation’s Containers of Hope program. This partnership provides free transport of 100 containers per year of essential medicines and medical supplies for communities affected by poverty or natural disasters. With this support, Americares expands its reach to 4,000 hospitals and health centers worldwide.

France

France

France, and particularly Marseille – the Group’s historic homeland – is at the heart of the Foundation’s commitment, with numerous local initiatives. The Foundation is also strongly committed in seven French overseas territories: French Polynesia, New Caledonia, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion, and Mayotte.

India

India

In India, access to education, nutrition, and healthcare remains a challenge, especially for the millions of children living in slums of Mumbai. In response, the CMA CGM Foundation has developed 10 socio-educational centers in partnership with Child Rights and You (CRY) and Salaam Baalak Trust. Located in the most disadvantaged neighborhoods of Mumbai, these centers welcome nearly 2,800 children and offer educational, nutritional, sports, and psychological support.

In 2021, the Foundation also carried out its first humanitarian airlift to India, delivering eight oxygen production units during the COVID-19 crisis.

Indonesia

Indonesia

In 2024, in partnership with Happy Hearts Indonesia, the Foundation committed to renovating and expanding two schools in Surabaya. SMP Tri Guna Bhakti reopened in November 2024 and now accommodates over 560 students. Renovation of DMP Bina Karya is scheduled for October 2025, which will increase total beneficiaries to 780 students. Two more school renovations are planned in North Jakarta in 2026.

Lebanon

Lebanon

As the historic and family homeland of the CMA CGM Group, Lebanon is a major focus of the Foundation, particularly in response to the multiple crises facing the country. The Foundation delivers critical humanitarian and educational support in partnership with local and leading international organizations.

Ukraine

Ukraine

In Ukraine, the Foundation contributed to international solidarity efforts by organizing three major humanitarian shipments with trusted partners. Leveraging CMA CGM Group’s logistics capabilities, more than 2,000 tonnes of emergency equipment were delivered to affected communities.

Vietnam

Vietnam

In Vietnam, the Foundation partnered with Enfants d’Asie to renovate three educational and social centers in Ho Chi Minh City’s disadvantaged neighborhoods of Thu Duc, Tan Phu, and the 8th District. These centers host 3,000 children and 1,000 parents, offering academic and psychosocial support.

Alongside these renovations, the CMA CGM Foundation and Enfants d’Asie organize annual sports tournaments, fostering team spirit and creating bonds between the Group’s staff members and the children supported.

Africa is a central focus of the CMA CGM Foundation. Through the Containers of Hope program, launched in 2012, the Foundation has transported more than 100,000 tonnes of humanitarian equipment to 100 countries, including 63,000 tonnes destined for Africa.
Working alongside international partners such as UNICEF, the World Food Programme, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and Médecins Sans Frontières, nearly one-third of shipments consist of therapeutic food.

Priority destinations since 2012 have included the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Somalia, Chad, Nigeria, Sudan, and Kenya. Deliveries have mainly included medical supplies, therapeutic food for malnourished children, and educational equipment.

Egypt

In 2024, the CMA CGM Foundation supported the Rotary Egypt - District 2451 to distribute 1,300 food parcels, reaching 6,500 people in disadvantaged neighborhoods of Cairo and Alexandria during Ramadan. Over 60 CMA CGM staff members joined Rotary volunteers to assemble and distribute this aid.

In March 2025, the Foundation expanded its actions by partnering with the Egyptian Food Bank (EFB), delivering 1,000 additional food parcels for 5,000 people, with nearly 40 CMA CGM staff members mobilized.

Côte d'Ivoire

Côte d'Ivoire

In Côte d’Ivoire, the CMA CGM Foundation and the Magic System Foundation joined forces to build primary schools in remote communities.
Two schools have already been inaugurated: the first in Port Bouet (Ellokro) in 2022, welcoming nearly 200 children, and the second in Bouaké in May 2024, hosting 300 children from kindergarten to primary school. A third facility is under construction in San Pedro. Each school integrates converted containers serving as libraries and teacher rooms.


In addition, the Foundation supports four three-year scholarships for cadets at the Regional Academy of Marine Science and Technology.

Kenya

Kenya

Since 2024, the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) has been a Containers of Hope partner, benefiting from container donations converted into storage facilities, clinics, training centers, and other vital infrastructures. The Foundation also strengthened KRCS’s El Niño crisis response, funding two 6x6 trucks to reach remote communities and providing thousands of additional emergency kits.

KRCS also launched the “I.O.Me001 Innovation Center” in Mombasa to foster youth employability. The Foundation contributed 11 repurposed shipping containers, creating a hub equipped with training workshops, IT rooms, and co-working spaces to promote coding and entrepreneurship.

Morocco

Following the devastating earthquake in September 2023, the Foundation donated 84 containers to local NGOs. These units were repurposed as housing, shelters, and classrooms, providing essential support to affected populations.

Central African Republic

In April 2025, Action Against Hunger and the CMA CGM Foundation inaugurated the first operational Pharmabox in Bangui. Field-tested since February 2025, this innovative refrigerated storage solution addresses the lack of medical cold-chain infrastructure in a country where nearly half the population – 2.8 million people – requires humanitarian assistance.
The Foundation committed to producing and deploying nine additional units in partnership with Action Against Hunger in Chad, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, and Mozambique.

In 2021, as part of its Containers of Hope partnership with UNICEF, the Foundation transported 3.5 million educational books to Chad. Distributed to schoolchildren aged from 7 to 11 years old in five cities – N’Djamena, Kanem, Mongo, Abéché, and Moundou – these books supported education access in rural, high-risk, or crisis zones.

Tunisia

Tunisia

The Foundation supported numerous countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. For Tunisia, it organized a maritime operation delivering 55 tonnes of medical equipment to local hospitals.

Turkey

In Turkey, following the 2023 earthquake, the Foundation partnered with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. A CMA CGM AIR CARGO aircraft delivered a field hospital to Gaziantep, with the capacity to treat up to 100 patients per day.
