Efforts to help Ukraine

The conflict in Ukraine has left millions of people in need of urgent humanitarian aid and protection.

Steadfast to its commitment to supporting people affected by humanitarian crises, the CMA CGM Foundation has made the Group’s industrial tool and logistics expertise available to its partners on three occasions, providing vital aid for the people of Ukraine.

The CMA CGM Foundation has worked alongside the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ Crisis and Support Center (CDCS) since 2020. At the start of the conflict, it mobilized a CMA CGM AIR CARGO plane in record time to transport emergency aid.

It departed from Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport carrying 55 tons of humanitarian aid (medical equipment, electrical equipment, emergency shelters, food aid) to Warsaw, Poland, to respond to the essential needs of affected civilians.

A few months later, the CMA CGM Foundation continued its efforts alongside the French Red Cross, which it has partnered with since 2015.

A total of 60 trucks were mobilized free of charge via CMA CGM Group subsidiary CEVA Logistics to transport 1,000 tons of emergency kits to Lviv during a complex 10-week operation. These kits contained foods (canned goods, soup, dried fruit and biscuits) and hygiene products for adults, as well as specific baby food and hygiene products.

For this large-scale operation to deliver 1,000 tons of essential items, the CMA CGM Group’s ro-ro vessel Aknoul was mobilized once again to carry a cargo made up entirely of humanitarian aid (protective equipment and emergency rehabilitation equipment, civil security vehicles, medical aid and food aid) from Marseille to Constanţa, Romania.
