  • A CMA CGM AIR CARGO plane departed from France for Türkiye on February 12, 2023, carrying 50 tons of emergency aid.
  • The CMA CGM Foundation mobilized the CMA CGM Group’s industrial tool and expertise for this operation.
  • It worked alongside the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ Crisis and Support Center (CDCS) to coordinate its action.

Following the earthquakes that struck Türkiye and Syria, the CMA CGM Foundation mobilized the CMA CGM Group’s expertise for a new emergency aid operation, in partnership with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ Crisis and Support Center and the French Ministry for the Interior and Overseas’ Directorate General of Civil Security and Crisis Management.

Emergency field hospital delivery

Standing by its commitment to support people affected by humanitarian crises and natural disasters, the CMA CGM Foundation mobilized the CMA CGM Group’s air transport expertise to provide a CMA CGM AIR CARGO Airbus A330-200F aircraft and deliver 50 tons of aid free of charge to the Gaziantep airport in Türkiye.

The load consisted of a 1,000m² high-capacity field hospital able to take up to 100 patients a day, with 2 operating theatres, 1 delivery unit, and the medical equipment needed to treat people injured in the earthquakes. This help arrived at a crucial time, as a plethora of medical facilities were damaged by the earthquake

87 French medical and logistics staff were involved in deploying this autonomous hospital structure in Gölbaşı, in the Adıyaman region, at the epicenter of the earthquake.

Strong partnership between the CMA CGM Foundation and CDCS

This operation was rendered possible by the strategic partnership between the CMA CGM Foundation and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ Crisis and Support Centre. It is the 15th operation in which the CMA CGM Foundation has been involved and the 3rd using an entire cargo plane, following the delivery of oxygen plants to India in May 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the sending of emergency aid to Ukraine in March 2022, at the start of the conflict.
