TAHADDI

Tahaddi is a Lebanese ONG founded in 2008. Its mission is to help and support groups of people in highly vulnerable situations, regardless of their nationality, creed and social background. The organization promotes solidarity through educational, psychosocial and health-care initiatives, The Tahaddi association intervenes in a very poor and often unhealthy neighborhood in the suburbs from the south of Beirut. It has been working with Lebanese families and children and, since 2012, with a high number of families displaced due to the conflict in Syria, through an education center, a medical center and sewing workshop.

The education center welcomes more than 200 Lebanese and Syrian children for a period that varies between one and 6 years. These children have either dropped out of school or have not been able to find a place in formal education. Two pre-school classes prepare the youngest to go to state school.

The mission of the education center is to develop the learning and integration capacities of the children. At the end of their schooling, the oldest benefit from career advice and support in professional training centers.

Over the last two years, the psychological needs of the families have been taken into account and a team of therapists and social workers accompany individuals and run support groups. Social support, through a coupon program for food and materials are also supplied to the Syrian and Lebanese families. Each year, more than 1500 families benefit from one or more services provided by the Tahaddi association.
