Solidarity Warehouse

The CMA CGM Foundation has been working with French food aid organizations for several years. In response to the growing demand for food assistance, associations working to fight poverty in France are facing significant logistical challenges, particularly around storage, transportation, and the distribution of food supplies. To address these needs, the CMA CGM Foundation launched the Solidarity Warehouse (L’Entrepôt Solidaire).
Logistical expertise at the heart of solidarity
Over a past two years, the CMA CGM Foundation has launched a groundbreaking initiative: to create the largest shared warehouse for five major French associations—Restos du Coeur, French Red Cross, Secours Populaire, ANDES, and Secours Catholique—providing high-quality logistical support to enhance their distribution operations.
This modern, secure 5,000 m² space, located in the heart of Marseille, near public transportation and major roadways, can store up to 3,200 tonnes of essential goods. Its capacity enables a more effective response to the growing problem of food insecurity.

A collective project designed with and for the associations
The realization of the Solidarity Warehouse has been made possible through the dedication of numerous partners. The CMA CGM Foundation financed the warehouse upgrade, installing storage equipment, col rooms, and constructing offices and social areas.
The Foundation also covers the entire cost of setting the warehouse and 50% of its annual operating costs. Partner organizations contribute 20%, based on the space they occupy, while the remaining 30% is covered by the State (via the Préfecture des Bouches-du-Rhône), the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, and the City of Marseille, in the form of subsidies granted to the associations.
