To mark the 10th anniversary of its Prize, the CMA CGM Foundation has decided to call on an exceptional sponsor: Martine Vassal, President of the Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Council and President of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis. Martine Vassal and Naïla Saadé, President of the CMA CGM Foundation, together presented the Foundation's 2018 Prize to the managers of the Ecole des XV association on Thursday 29 November 2018 at the CMA CGM Tower in Marseille. This prize recognizes the work carried out by this association to combat dropping out and academic failure among secondary school students from disadvantaged backgrounds, by offering them an extracurricular program combining homework help, academic support and rugby sessions.

The association Ecole des XV was created in 2014 by the VoyagePrivé Group. It combines academic support and rugby practice to help children from disadvantaged neighbourhoods get out of school failure. The rules, individual physical engagement and collective spirit involved in rugby practice are perfectly adapted to this approach as secondary school students develop a taste for effort and significantly improve their behaviour and concentration.

In concrete terms, the School of the XV welcomes each secondary school student three afternoons a week, during which specialized educators, teachers, sports leaders and many volunteers work to bring each child to success.

The Arcenciel association, winner of the 2018 Lebanon Foundation Prize

On December 26, 2018, the CMA CGM Foundation awarded its 2018 Lebanon Prize to "Arcenciel", a Lebanese association that contributes to the society sustainable development by supporting vulnerable populations and integrating marginalized people.

Arcenciel was established in 1985 in the middle of the civil war. It works with and for any person in difficulty and offers activities around different axes:

  • Social program: support the poorest populations and promote their integration by creating manual work training for them
  • Youth program: creation and implementation of specialized classes
  • Mobility and health program: social reintegration of people with disabilities and medical assistance through a dispensary.
  • Tourism program: protecting Lebanese heritage and heritage through eco-tourism.

This remarkable work was highlighted by the CMA CGM Foundation, which made a donation of 20,000 euros to enable the association to continue its work.
