100 Days of Action: First Assessment of the Solidarity Warehouse

As l’Entrepôt Solidaire, the largest shared associative warehouse in France, has been in operation for 100 days, this visit was an opportunity to take stock of this major social innovation. A team of 30 volunteers and employees of the association are mobilized on site to deliver over 150 tons of food each week. As a result, more than 2.5 million meals have been distributed to the 100,000 beneficiaries supported by the five associations in Marseille and the Bouches-du-Rhône.

Inaugurated on December 6th in the presence of Mrs. Brigitte Macron, l’Entrepôt Solidaire provides over 5,000 m² of storage space, including a refrigerated section, for five national associations involved in food aid (Restos du Cœur, the French Red Cross, Secours Populaire, ANDES, and Secours Catholique). This warehouse allows the storage of 3,200 tons of food and improves the efficiency of food distribution across the region. This large-scale solidarity project, initiated by the CMA CGM Foundation, is supported by the State, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, and the City of Marseille.

A few days before the launch of Restos du Cœur's national food drive and on the occasion of the relocation of the organization's departmental headquarters to l’Entrepôt Solidaire, this visit provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges of food insecurity.

As a partner of Restos du Cœur, the CMA CGM Foundation will mobilize 150 CMA CGM Group employees at l’Entrepôt Solidaire and in the region’s stores in the coming days to volunteer in sorting and collecting food during the association's national food drive from March 7 to 9.
