On Friday, March 21, Tanya Saadé Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundation, welcomed a delegation to the Solidarity Warehouse in Marseille, including the Consuls General of the United States (Mrs. Jessica Marie Franz Huaracayo), India (Mr. Rupjyoti Brahma Karjee), Lebanon (Mrs. Sonia Abou Azar), and Turkey (Mr. Sait Evren Güner), along with Mrs. Sophie Joissains, Mayor of Aix-en-Provence.

A major social innovation initiated by the CMA CGM Foundation

Inaugurated on December 6, 2024, by the First Lady of France, Mrs. Brigitte Macron, the Solidarity Warehouse is a unique social innovation in France. Developed by the CMA CGM Foundation in collaboration with five major food aid organizations (Les Restos du Cœur, the French Red Cross, Secours Populaire, ANDES, and Secours Catholique), and French public authorities—including the national government, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, and the City of Marseille—the facility offers more than 5,000 square meters of storage space, including a cold room.

With a capacity of storage of up to 3,200 tonnes of food, the warehouse currently supplies 330 distribution points across Marseille and the Bouches-du-Rhône area, enabling the delivery of more than 10 million meals per year.

The CMA CGM Foundation’s international commitments

Led by Tanya Saadé Zeenny, the CMA CGM Foundation focuses on humanitarian action and access to education for all in France, Lebanon, and worldwide.

In response to conflicts and natural disasters, the Foundation leverages the CMA CGM Group’s industrial resources and logistical expertise—containers, ships, planes, trucks, and warehouses—to deliver essential aid to affected populations.

Through its Containers of Hope program, which provides humanitarian organizations with free of charge maritime shipping, the Foundation has already transported 100,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to 100 countries. It has also carried out major emergency relief operations alongside the French government, including chartered cargo flights delivering humanitarian aid to India in 2021 and to Türkiye in 2023.

The Foundation is also committed to ensuring access to quality education, professional training, social integration, as well as educational and social innovation. It has supported more than 550 educational initiatives around the world, including the construction and renovation of five schools in Côte d’Ivoire and Indonesia, as well as the development of 20 educational and vocational training centers in India, Kenya, Brazil, and Vietnam.
