New Humanitarian Warehouse Inaugurated in Guadeloupe: The CMA CGM Foundation Supports the French Red Cross to Enhance Natural Disaster Emergency Response

- The CMA CGM Foundation strengthens the French Red Cross' PIRAC (Regional Intervention Platform for the Americas and the Caribbean) capacity to anticipate and respond to crises in Guadeloupe and the Caribbean region.
- The Foundation contributed to the construction and equipment of PIRAC's new humanitarian warehouse, a key asset to accelerate emergency response.
- A two-fold contribution: purchasing pre-positioned humanitarian supplies and equipping the warehouse with state-of-the-art facilities.
- The CMA CGM Foundation has been supporting the French Red Cross since 2015 through its Containers of Hope program.
- In 2024, the Foundation supported PIROI (Indian Ocean Regional Intervention Platform), whose new warehouse was inaugurated in Reunion Island in December.
On Thursday, December 6, the Humanitarian Warehouse of the French Red Cross' Regional Intervention Platform America Caribbean (PIRAC) was inaugurated in Guadeloupe, in the presence of Caroline Cross, President of the French Red Cross, and thanks to the support of the CMA CGM Foundation.
This inauguration marks a major turning point in improving the anticipation and response to natural disasters in the French Overseas Territories.
Since 2015, the CMA CGM Foundation has partnered with the French Red Cross via its Containers of Hope program, facilitating the free transport of over 1,350 tonnes of humanitarian aid to over 28 countries.
In 2024, this commitment was further strengthened, particularly in the French overseas territories, to enhance the prevention, anticipation and management of crises and natural disasters through the French Red Cross’ regional intervention platforms: PIRAC (Americas and Caribbean) and PIROI (Indian Ocean).
In Guadeloupe, the CMA CGM Foundation contributed to the construction and equipment of PIRAC's new Humanitarian Warehouse:
- Support for the purchase of pre-positioned humanitarian equipment transported from France via Containers of Hope.
- Contribution to the warehouse development and equipment, including the installation of a photovoltaic power plant, storage racks and two electric vehicles.
This contribution builds on the CMA CGM Foundation’s previous backing of PIROI, whose warehouse was inaugurated in Reunion Island at the end of 2024, further strengthening the French Red Cross’ capacity to respond to disasters in the French overseas territories and neighboring regions.
