A sports and social project contributing to the Olympic legacy for young people in Marseille
This new sports facility will allow nearly 40 children from the La Reynarde Children's Home for Social Care (MECS), located in the 11th arrondissement of Marseille, to benefit from a modern and multifunctional sports field. The youngsters will be able to take part in various team sports, roller skating, and running, thus promoting their well-being and personal development.
As the Official Logistics Solutions Partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the CMA CGM Group is actively contributing to the Olympic legacy in Marseille through the actions of the CMA CGM Foundation. This project illustrates the Group’s commitment to promoting access to sport for children and young people from all backgrounds:
- Renovation of several city stadiums in partnership with the OM Foundation, the National Sports Agency, and the City of Marseille. The first stadium, located in front of the La Major cathedral, was inaugurated in 2023.
- Support for the "A Step Towards the Sea" program for four years, enabling 150 children per year to participate in a swimming learning program developed by the Marseille Capital of the Sea association.
- Implementation of an introductory sailing program for 100 young people from Marseille in 2023 aboard the schooner Ahoy with the famous skipper Eric Bellion.
- Implementation of a "sea discovery" program in the Frioul Islands for 800 children and teenagers from social centers in Marseille, in partnership with the Léo Lagrange Mediterranean Federation.
Support for the renovation of the Family Home at La Tour de l’Arbois
The CMA CGM Foundation also supported the renovation and furnishing of the Family Home at La Tour de l’Arbois in Aix la Duranne. This home will allow around fifty children between the ages of 3 and 12 who are in need of social assistance to reunite with their parents and share warm family moments after the disruption caused by their placement.
After a first meeting in December 2023, these projects, identified with the Association Médico Sociale de Provence, were realized in six months to meet the needs of these children in fragile situations as quickly as possible.
Support and care for vulnerable people by the AMSP
