On the occasion of the International Day of Education, the CMA CGM Foundation, chaired by Tanya Saadé Zeenny, launched its 8th annual call for proposals on the theme of "Commit to education", in a renewed and revitalised format. This latest edition is in line with the Foundation's new mission: "Education for All", aiming to help children and youth find their place in the world of tomorrow through education.

The call for proposals, supported by a budget of €200,000, endeavours to help children and youth up to 25 years of age in France (the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region) and Lebanon by emphasising several objectives, in particular:

  • Reduce educational inequalities;
  • Promote access to basic skills;
  • Prevent children and youth from dropping out of school and becoming socially isolated;
  • Fight against all kinds of stereotypes in career path decisions;
  • Engage youth in civic actions, particularly those related to the environment;
  • Encourage digital education.

Within the framework of the skills-based sponsorship program implemented by the CMA CGM Group, volunteers from the Group's staff will, for the first time, participate in reviewing applications.

In 2019, 13,000 children and youth received support from the CMA CGM Foundation. By choosing to focus its 2020 call for proposals on education, the CMA CGM Foundation is intent on pursuing and strengthening its efforts towards a more inclusive society.
