Inauguration of the NRSud school in Marseille: New facilities to train the next generation of solar electricians

On June 3rd, the NRSud production school, supported by the CMA CGM Foundation as part of its Formations d’Avenir program, inaugurated its new facilities in the northern neighborhoods of Marseille. This milestone significantly advances the Foundation’s efforts to empower Marseille’s youth to access future-oriented jobs, particularly in the fields of electricity and renewable energy.
The CMA CGM Foundation’s long-term commitment for professional integration and equal opportunity
In Marseille, where one in ten young people quits the school system before graduating and youth unemployment rates are particularly high, the CMA CGM Foundation has been working since 2005 to promote access to education, training, and professional integration for young people, in particular those from disadvantaged neighborhoods. Through its Formations d’Avenir program, launched in 2023, the Foundation supports 11 schools and organizations that offer innovative training and professional integration pathways in future-oriented sectors:
- Transport and Logistics: École de la 2ème Chance de Marseille
- Film and Audiovisual: Kourtrajmé and La CinéFabrique
- Journalism: La Chance
- Textile Design and Craftsmanship: FASK Academy Production School
- Solar Energy: NRSud (École de Production des Énergies du Sud)
- Digital Technology: La Plateforme
- Heritage Restoration: Employment integration projects for the restoration of Fort D’Entrecasteaux (Acta Vista) and the Pilotine shipyard integration program
In addition, the Foundation supports excellence training programs designed to support high-potential students from priority education networks:
- Institut Louis Germain: Offers outstanding middle and high school students enhanced academic support to help them access prestigious schools
- Le Choix de l’École: Trains recent university graduates to become teachers in schools within priority education networks
NRSud: New facilities and innovative teaching for tomorrow’s job market
The NRSud school stands out for its "Learning by Doing" approach, which emphasizes hands-on learning (80% of the time) and trains young people aged 15 to 18—many of whom struggle in traditional education settings—for careers in electricity and renewable energy.
After two years operating in temporary facilities in Château-Gombert, NRSud has now moved into a fully renovated and equipped building, with the support of the CMA CGM Foundation. This new location will enable the school to welcome more students and strengthen their guidance toward high-potential, future-oriented careers.
