Inauguration of the new Cop1 branch in La Réunion: A structuring commitment of the CMA CGM Foundation against student insecurity in overseas territories

The association Cop1 Solidarités Étudiantes, supported by the CMA CGM Foundation, inaugurated its new branch on Saturday, February 21, in Saint-Denis, La Réunion.
The inauguration was followed by a large food distribution for students facing financial insecurity. This first distribution will enable 200 students to receive free food parcels and essential basic goods.
Since 2024, the CMA CGM Foundation has supported Cop1 Solidarités Étudiantes as part of its commitment to fighting food insecurity, with particular attention given to overseas territories. This long-term partnership has enabled the association to expand its activities to Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre, and now Saint-Denis, the third overseas branch supported by the Foundation.
Through this initiative, the Foundation reaffirms its collective and long-term commitment to serving France’s overseas territories, placing solidarity, efficiency, and innovation at the heart of its actions.
“The CMA CGM Foundation has a historic connection with the overseas territories dating back to the origins of the CMA CGM Group. These are regions we have always connected and where the needs are real. In the face of rising food insecurity, particularly among students in overseas territories, our role is to structure sustainable and effective responses, as close as possible to the needs of local stakeholders and the specific characteristics of each territory,” declared Tanya Saadé Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundaiton.
The Foundation’s commitment in overseas territories does not stop there. Alongside its partners, it works to promote access to employment and training for young people in overseas regions, address the growing needs related to food insecurity, and deliver essential aid in times of crisis.
Through its partnership with the Fondation du Service Militaire Adapté (SMA), it notably supports employment integration programs, helping to provide sustainable opportunities for young people in these territories.
Through these initiatives, the Foundation reaffirms its collective and long-term commitment to serving France’s overseas territories, placing solidarity, efficiency, and innovation at the heart of its action.
