Food security: learn about the CMA CGM Foundation’s initiatives

World Food Day is observed every year on October 16 and recognizes those working to improve access to food for all.
There are huge food security challenges again this year due to the lasting consequences of the health crisis, international tensions, and climatic disruptions, which are causing prices to rise and making it harder for the most vulnerable to access essential products.
In 2022, 200 million children will suffer from stunted growth due to malnutrition. At the opening of the 77th United Nations General Assembly in September, many international NGOs drew attention to the fact that one person dies of hunger every four seconds.
Since 2012, through its humanitarian transport program Containers of Hope, the CMA CGM Foundation has been supporting the work of NGOs and international organizations by shipping free of charge the equipment and supplies they need to develop their programs in the field and meet the needs of populations facing crises.
In 2022, in the face of growing needs, we are expanding our support to our longstanding partners: UNICEF in Somalia, Doctors Without Borders in Nigeria, and Action Against Hunger in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
This support has funded 8 million servings of ready-to-use therapeutic food, which enable nutritional centers to care for children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
This funding comes in addition to the more than 250 Containers of Hope that the Foundation has shipped to our partners' nutrition programs in these three countries since 2012.
Food is at the heart of issues related to health, child development and national security, which is why it’s crucial for everyone to pool their efforts.
We will continue to support specialists’ work to provide humanitarian aid, which helps save lives, by putting CMA CGM's expertise and resources toward the supply chains vital to its delivery.
