  • The CMA CGM Foundation is helping ANDES distribute the equivalent of 300,000 meals to its beneficiaries in the French overseas departments and territories.
  • It will also provide logistical support for the sea transport of 20 containers of food.
  • The CMA CGM Foundation will benefit from the logistical expertise of the CMA CGM Group, a historical partner of Overseas France.

Faced with the growing need for food aid and the increasing vulnerability of overseas populations, the CMA CGM Foundation is committed to supporting the Association Nationale des Epiceries Solidaires (ANDES) in the Overseas Departments and Territories, one of France's main food aid actors. ANDES relies on a network of 600 food pantries, 44 of which are located in the overseas departments and territories, serving 10,000 beneficiaries each year.

In 2022, the community pantries/solidarity food banks in the ANDES network experienced an increase of more than 20% in visitors. Their supply is weakened by the triple effect of reduced product donations, inflation and increased needs. Thanks to the partnership with the CMA CGM Foundation, ANDES will distribute the equivalent of 300,000 meals in its overseas food pantries (La Réunion, Mayotte, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Guyane).

Community pantries/solidarity food banks provide low-income families with dignified access to quality, selected food while benefiting from social support. In 2022, the equivalent of more than 38 million meals will be distributed. In the Community Pantries/Solidarity Food Stores, the more than 210,000 beneficiaries shop freely, just like in a local store, and pay an average of 80% less than market prices. Thanks to the 10,000 volunteers and staff in the network, the food pantries become places of connection, experience and learning, with the goal of helping beneficiaries regain their footing and autonomy under the guidance of social workers.

Through its 5 integration projects, ANDES also provides fresh fruits and vegetables to its network and other food aid structures.

The CMA CGM Foundation will provide support for the maritime transport of 20 containers of food supplies

The CMA CGM Foundation will also provide logistical support to ANDES by transporting 20 containers of food from the mainland to overseas free of charge. To do so, it will rely on the industrial tools and logistical expertise of the CMA CGM Group.

A historical partner of the overseas territories, the CMA CGM Group has always acted as a bridge between the overseas territories, the mainland and the rest of the world. The Group operates dedicated shipping lines and undertakes structuring activities to contribute to the economic dynamism of these territories and enhance their attractiveness. Guadeloupe, Martinique and La Réunion are currently the CMA CGM Group's strategic hubs in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean.
