CMA CGM receives an A- rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project for its decarbonization efforts

The CMA CGM Group has been awarded the A- score by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in its 2023 climate index.  ​

The Carbon Disclosure Project is one of the main environmental performance indicators of large-scale companies worldwide, followed by the majority of our customers and partners.​

This distinction highlights the significant progress made by the Group in the decarbonization of its shipping activities, as well as its leading role in accelerating the transition to a low-carbon transport and logistics industry. ​

CMA CGM is one of the Top 19% of maritime players who have reached the Leadership level of the Carbon Disclosure Project this year (average rating of the sector: B). ​

2023 marked an acceleration of the CMA CGM Group’s decarbonisation strategy with reinforced commitment ​

and concrete actions:​

  • The ambition to align with the high trajectory of the IMO: 30% by 2030 and 80% by 2040​
  • Substantial investments in new energy, asset modernization and innovation; ​
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions for maritime activities by 1 million tons between 2023 and 2022; ​
  • The implementation of incentives for its top management to achieve the climate objectives set. ​

CMA CGM keeps acting towards a low-carbon transport and logistics industry. ​

The Carbon Disclosure Project, founded in the UK in 2000, is a non-profit organization that publishes data on the environmental impact of the world’s largest companies. In 2023, more than 23,000 companies were evaluated, an increase of 140% in 4 years.  ​

The CDP awards ratings ranging from D to A based on the efforts, progress and transparency of companies in reducing their environmental impact.
