The CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE calls at Yantian and continues her maiden voyage

- The CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE, the world's first 23,000 TEU vessel powered by liquefied natural gas, continues her maiden voyage on our emblematic FAL 1 line between Asia and Northern Europe.
- Calling at the world's largest ports, she is welcomed by local authorities as well as the public and customers, in compliance with health standards.
- On Wednesday 7th October, she berthed at Yantian, her last call in China before her arrival in Singapore on Sunday, and her subsequent departure for Europe via the Suez Canal.
CMA CGM South China teams, together with representatives of the Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT), organized a ceremony for the occasion. Due to the sanitary measures in force, the crew of CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE was unable to go ashore for the traditional plaque presentation. However, the plaque was presented to Commander Emmanuel Delran by a person who was able to board the ship in compliance with the sanitary rules.
This 26-hour stopover took place within the allotted time. The ship even arrived a little ahead of schedule. And unlike her calls in Shanghai and Ningbo, where allotted windows were set so that the ship could dock at high tide, the CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE was able to dock as soon as she arrived.

A port that can accommodate the largest container ships in the world
Yantian Terminal is one of the busiest terminals in Shenzhen Port, the 4th largest port in the world. Yantian handled 10 of the 25 million containers that passed through Schenzen in 2019. With its 20 deep-water quays and 85 STS ("Ship-to-shore") cranes, YICT is a particularly popular port of call, able to accommodate the world's largest container ships and boasting modern infrastructure.
Yantian Terminal staff were particularly sensitive to this CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE call, as YICT is the first Chinese terminal to have deployed a fleet of liquefied natural gas trucks to transport containers on the yard.
