  • A partnership based on shared values of solidarity and pushing new limits
  • Gilles Lamiré will take part in the race with co-skipper Yvan Bourgnon on board the multi Ocean 50 Groupe CGA-1001 Sourires.
  • This year, CMA CGM is also the Transat Jacques Vabre race’s main partner between Le Havre and the French Antilles.

Proudly bearing CMA CGM’s colors on the Transat Jacques Vabre, Gilles Lamiré, skipper of the Ocean 50 Groupe GCA-1001 Sourires, has partnered with the CMA CGM Group for this extraordinary transatlantic race.

Born in 1970, Gilles Lamiré began his career as a skipper in the French Antilles on board luxury vessels, classic yachts and multis. He gained experience over around 15 years before moving into racing on his 60-foot trimaran in 2012. After buying the former “Prince de Bretagne”, the trimaran used by Lionel Lemonchois to win the 2010 Route du Rhum, he took part in major transatlantic races and made it onto the podium on each occasion over four seasons.

He made his name in 2019 when he won the Transat Jacques Vabre with co-skipper Antoine Carpentier on board a new, more powerful vessel, the Multi 50 Groupe GCA-1001 Sourires.

This year, the Cancale-based title holder is joining forces again with former crewmate Yvan Bourgnon in an attempt to repeat his victory, supported by the CMA CGM Group and its 110,000 employees.

As the main partner of the Transat Jacques Vabre, the CMA CGM Group will accompany the champion on the route from Le Havre to Martinique, used throughout the year by our fleet of modern, more environmentally friendly vessels that make around 240 stops each year in Martinique, helping to showcase the French Antilles’ expertise across the Caribbean and worldwide.

Our partnership with the Transat Jacques Vabre and Gilles Lamiré reflects our unique link with the city of Le Havre and the island of Martinique.
