As part of its Containers of Hope program, the CMA CGM Foundation has mobilized the expertise of the CMA CGM Group to transport more than 800 tonnes of humanitarian aid from Egypt to Lebanon.

The emergency aid was assembled under the aegis of the Tahya Misr Fund and transported by rail to the Alexandria terminal, before being shipped to the CMA terminal in Beirut aboard the CMA CGM SAHARA. The vessel is expected to arrive at the Port of Beirut this week.

The 53 containers include:

  • Medicines and pharmaceutical products,
  • Hygiene kits,
  • Food and non-food items,
  • As well as essential equipment and supplies to support displaced populations.

This solidarity operation aims to support displaced populations in Lebanon by facilitating the delivery of essential humanitarian aid to Lebanese authorities and organizations active on the ground. It also illustrates the strength of integrated humanitarian logistics.

“Through this operation, the Foundation is placing the maritime and logistics expertise of the CMA CGM Group at the service of Egypt, in solidarity with Lebanon. This reflects the DNA of the CMA CGM Foundation: to support those working in humanitarian aid.” declared Tanya Saadé Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundation.

Supporting displaced populations in Lebanon

This shipment follows a previous humanitarian operation carried out by the CMA CGM Foundation, during which an aircraft from the CMA CGM AIR CARGO fleet was mobilized to transport 60 tonnes of urgent humanitarian aid from France to Lebanon.

The CMA CGM Foundation remains fully committed to supporting humanitarian operations in Lebanon.
