  • 2nd Thanksgiving turkey drive in Canada.
  • Approximately 12,000 Canadians benefitted from this operation.

The CMA CGM Foundation donated 1,000 turkeys to families in Montréal today as part of their Thanksgiving “Giving Across America” initiative.

Strategic partnerships for a successful outreach

The CMA CGM volunteers’ day started at 9:00 a.m. with the delivery of 500 turkeys to Moisson Montreal, the largest food bank in Canada.

CMA CGM volunteers then headed to Sun Youth Organization’s administrative center, near the MIL campus of Université de Montréal, to deliver 500 turkeys and get ready for the distribution.

Doors opened at 10:00 a.m. and both on-foot and drive-through pickups were available for families in need of food assistance.

Approximately 12,000 Canadians will be able to enjoy a quality Thanksgiving meal with the 1,000 5-7 kilogram turkeys donated by the CMA CGM Foundation to both organizations. Last year, 11,200 people benefited from the operation.

Fighting food insecurity in North America

In addition to the Montreal initiative, the CMA CGM Foundation also plans to provide Thanksgiving food parcels for U.S. troops, their families, and thousands of Americans across the United States.

In partnership with the Salvation Army, the CMA CGM Foundation will distribute a total of 4,500 turkeys, along with thousands of food parcels, in Los Angeles (November 10), New York City (November 15), and Norfolk (November 18). This 4th “Giving Across America” operation will benefit approximately 66,000 U.S. residents.

Thiago Campos, General Manager of CMA CGM Canada, stated, “We are committed to serve our communities. The CMA CGM Foundation and our partners are truly the driving force behind the success of this operation. They have helped make this happen. We are honored to bring joy to the homes of our fellow Canadians during this season of gratitude, one turkey at a time

Renzo Fraraccio, Sun Youth Board President, explained, "for the second year in a row, we are pleased to partner up with the CMA CGM Foundation, to help vulnerable families at Thanksgiving. Their donation of 500 turkeys will help feed thousands of people who came to Sun Youth for food assistance. It's also important to underline the volunteer contribution of the team of CMA CGM employees who relay our regular volunteers."

Chantal Vézina, General Manager of Moisson Montréal, declared, “we are beyond grateful to the CMA CGM Foundation for their exceptional generosity. Their donation of turkeys for Thanksgiving perfectly captures the essence of the holiday. This gift will bring warmth and joy to Montrealers in need. A huge thank you to the CMA CGM Foundation for this thoughtful gesture in the true spirit of the season."
