Through this initiative, the CMA CGM Foundation reaffirms its commitment to improving access to quality education by supporting the transition of schools to clean, renewable energy. The project directly benefits more than 13,000 students of all ages and backgrounds, creating environmentally responsible learning spaces.

By reducing electricity costs, schools are now able to redirect savings toward essential educational needs, including teacher salaries, school infrastructure improvements, and classroom resources. This initiative also supports the Egyptian government’s national strategy to generate 42% of the country’s energy from renewable sources by 2035.

To date, four schools have already been fully equipped with solar panels, while installation work is underway in eight additional schools. Once complete, the initiative will mark a significant milestone in advancing Egypt’s sustainable education infrastructure.
