The CMA CGM Foundation partners with the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) to support the ambulance transport of patients across Lebanon

- 285 Lebanese Red Cross ambulances supplied with fuel since February 2024
- 75,000 patients will be transported by LRC ambulances during the first semester of 2024
An essential partnership to ensure the continuity of emergency medical services
The CMA CGM Foundation and the Lebanese Red Cross have signed a partnership aiming to contribute to the functioning of the Lebanese Red Cross ambulances throughout Lebanon by securing 50% of their fuel consumption during the first half of 2024.
For over sixty years, the Lebanese Red Cross ambulances have covered over 80% of pre-hospital emergency care and transport. It's an essential, local community service that is provided for almost the entire population of Lebanon. It's also a free service, made possible by the dedication of volunteers working day and night.
The Foundation of the CMA CGM Group, a global player in transport and logistics, is committed to contributing to the sustainability of this "emergency logistics" operation, which enables the response to life-threatening emergencies of patients in Lebanon 24/7.
Two committed players responding to the most urgent needs
This partnership marks a new step in a shared commitment to meet the priority needs of the Lebanese people. Since 2019, the CMA CGM Foundation has mobilized the maritime and logistics expertise of the CMA CGM Group to provide, among other things, free shipments of personal protective equipment to the Lebanese Red Cross during the COVID-19 pandemic and of essential supplies following the explosion at the Port of Beirut.
A partnership in line with the strategy of the CMA CGM Foundation
This support is also part of a dynamic that is reflected in the strategic partnerships already established between the CMA CGM Foundation on one hand and the International Committee of the Red Cross, the French Red Cross and the American Red Cross on the other, notably for the transportation of humanitarian aids through the Containers of Hope program.
Tanya Saadé Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundation, declared: "This partnership with the Lebanese Red Cross reflects our commitment to respond to the urgent needs in all circumstances. It testifies our unwavering support to Lebanese families. Contributing to the functioning of the ambulances provides vital support at a time when patients need it most."
Dr. Antoine Zoghbi, President of the Lebanese Red Cross, stated: "It is only through the generosity of partners like the CMA CGM Foundation that the Lebanese Red Cross continues to provide vital services to over half a million people annually in Lebanon. In these times of crisis, we rely more than ever on our partners to fulfill our humanitarian mission and demonstrate that with goodwill, it is possible to ensure quality services in our country. On behalf of all Lebanese Red Cross volunteers, who generously give so much to help others, I thank the CMA CGM Foundation, chaired by Tanya Saadé Zeenny, from the bottom of my heart for standing by our side, and by the side of vulnerable people in Lebanon."
