- A solidarity logistic operation of the CMA CGM Foundation from the Olympic Village to 112 Emmaüs centers.
- 4,000 people in need will access these essential equipment, offering a second life to the Olympic furniture.
The CMA CGM Foundation supports Emmaüs’ reuse programs by offering free transport of bedding and furniture from the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to Emmaüs centers.
Leveraging the CMA CGM Group's logistics expertise for an unprecedented challenge
As the Official Logistics Partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the CMA CGM Group is extending its support beyond the Games. The CMA CGM Foundation mobilizes the Group and CEVA Logistics’ industrial tool for a major solidarity logistics operation with Emmaüs.
A fleet of 420 CEVA Logistics trucks will be deployed to transport furniture used during the Games to Emmaüs logistics sites and centers. This effort will recover a total of 54,000 pieces of furniture, 9,000 mattresses, and 11,000 pillows.
A rapid mobilization after the Olympic Games
200 CEVA Logistics trucks will transport equipment to 112 Emmaüs France centers across the country, including several in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, where the CMA CGM Foundation is particularly active due to the company’s roots in Marseille.
The remaining 220 trucks will transport equipment for the "Solidarity Equipment Bank", a program managed by Emmaüs Défi. This bank will use the material to create furniture sets for people transitioning from the streets or temporary shelters to their own homes. This effort involves 400 tons of material, benefiting up to 4,000 recipients. The deliveries will be spread over two years to align with the capacity of the bank’s main warehouse.
Through this partnership, the CMA CGM Foundation is helping Emmaüs tackle an unprecedented logistical challenge, given the short recovery timeline and the large quantity of equipment to be transported.

"The support of the CMA CGM Foundation is a tremendous opportunity for the entire Emmaüs movement. The provision of free transportation allows Emmaüs programs to benefit from bedding and furniture that will enhance their solidarity reuse activities. Donating to Emmaüs not only gives objects a second life but also offers thousands of people a second chance by providing them with meaningful work. A portion of these donations will also be managed by the Solidarity Equipment Bank, an Emmaüs Défi initiative that helps individuals transitioning from the homelessness or temporary shelters to furnish their new homes," said Tarek Daher, General Delegate of Emmaüs France.
"The CMA CGM Group provided logistics for the Olympic Games, and the CMA CGM Foundation continues this commitment by delivering logistics with a dual impact: social and environmental. By repurposing the equipment from the Games, we are proud to support people in precarious situations across France by giving them access to essential goods. This initiative also strengthens our commitment to the legacy of the Games in the Marseille region, promoting access to sports for children and young people from all backgrounds," said Tanya Saade Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundation.
The CMA CGM Foundation supporting solidarity logistics and the legacy of the Games
This operation showcases the unique approach of the CMA CGM Foundation, which supports many French associations with their logistical needs, using its expertise to drive humanitarian and solidarity efforts both in France and internationally.
This initiative also complements the CMA CGM Foundation’s efforts to enhance the legacy of the Games in the Marseille region. The Foundation is working to improve access to sport for children and young people from all backgrounds by developing local sports infrastructure and programs to discover the sea and learn to swim, in partnership with local associations. Already this summer, 4,000 young people in Marseille are benefiting from five initiatives aimed at strengthening the Olympic Games’ legacy in the region.
