The CMA CGM Foundation launches a solidarity-focused summer for youth in underserved Marseille neighborhoods

- This summer, the CMA CGM Foundation renewed its commitment to underserved youth by supporting the associations Grand Bleu, Marseille Capitale de la Mer, and Fédération Léo Lagrange, in carrying out educational and sports activities.
- 3,000 young people from Marseille will learn to swim and take part in water-based activities this summer at L’Estaque, on Frioul Island, and at the Cercle des Nageurs facilities.
- The CMA CGM Foundation strengthened its support through the National Sailing Championship of the National Union of School Sports (UNSS), held at the Olympic Marina of Roucas Blanc from June 2 to 5, which brought together 200 students.

The CMA CGM Foundation remains deeply committed to education in Marseille, and continues to promote access to sports, maritime discovery and swimming education for children and youth from priority neighborhoods.
A New Partnership with the National Union of School Sports in Bouches-du-Rhône (UNSS13)
Through its support of the UNSS13 National Sailing Championship, the CMA CGM Foundation contributes to the legacy of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Marseille.
From June 2 to 5, over 200 students representing 38 middle and high schools — including three from Guadeloupe—came together in Marseille to participate in the championship.
Dedicated to promoting inclusion and equal access to sports, the event features “shared sports” teams composed of both able-bodied and disabled students.
A high-level competition that champions the values of sport
Held at the Roucas Blanc Olympic Marina—host venue for the Paris 2024 Olympic sailing events—the championship offers optimal conditions for a high-level national competition.
Organized by UNSS13—the Bouches-du-Rhône branch of the National Union of School Sports)— the competition promotes sport as a tool for education, inclusion and personal development.
Alongside the competition, the "Youth Village" offers educational programming for participants and school groups. These activities include coastal protection awareness workshops with Notre Petite Planète association, first-aid and referee training sessions, and workshops focused on maritime safety and ocean-related topics.
Strengthened support for local associations driving youth access to the sea
In 2025, the CMA CGM Foundation renewed its support for local associations that provide enriching activities for over 3,000 underserved children and youth in Marseille, particularly during the summer and after-school hours:
- Ongoing support since 2020 for Un pas vers la Mer, a program by Marseille Capitale de la Mer, allowing 150 children per year to learn to swim at the Cercle des Nageurs de Marseille
- Annual sea discovery outings for 800 children from social centers to the Frioul Islands, in partnership with the Fédération Léo Lagrange.
- Support for Le Grand Bleu, enabling 2,000 children and youth from underprivileged neighborhoods to learn to swim, try water sports—and for older participants, receive training in water-related professions (e.g., lifeguard, instructor, etc.).
Tanya Saadé Zeenny, president of the CMA CGM Foundation, said: "The CMA CGM Foundation places great importance on ensuring the continuity of educational support during after-school hours. Sports are a powerful educational tool. The values of sports align with those of the CMA CGM Group and its Foundation. We are committed to partnering once again with leading local associations and providing over 3,000 underserved children and youth in Marseille with a solidarity summer."
