For the end of the year holidays, the CMA CGM Foundation is once again organizing a major solidarity program in Marseille to support associations that help those in need.
Renewed support together with the Secours Populaire for the Pères Noël Verts ("Green Santas") campaign
For the second year running, the CMA CGM Foundation is supporting the Secours Populaire of the Bouches-du-Rhône department and assisting the "Noël des Quartiers" (Neighborhood Santas) initiative which hands out sweets and toys to 8,500 children in 54 neighborhoods of Marseille.
Throughout 2024, the CMA CGM Foundation will also provide financial support for the purchase of basic foodstuffs and personal hygiene kits, providing real help to those in financial difficulty who rely on the association's 10 emergency branches in Marseilles. Aware of the logistical challenges faced by Secours Populaire, the CMA CGM Foundation has decided to upgrade Secours Populaire's fleet by purchasing two new electric utility vehicles to increase its collection and delivery capacity.
In 2022, the CMA CGM Foundation also supported the Pères Noël Verts ("Green Santas") campaign and contributed to the fight against student poverty by purchasing the Solidar'Bus, a new commercial vehicle equipped to distribute basic necessities on student campuses.
Solidarity initiatives throughout December
- Fédération des Banques Alimentaires
The Foundation once again distributed balanced and varied meals. In Marseille, around a hundred employees took part in the national food drive on November 24, 25 and 26. This operation will be stepped up in 2024, with CMA CGM's subsidiary CEVA Logistics providing the road transport in France. These shipments will supply the 76 warehouses and branches of the Fédération des Banques Alimentaires in France. - Emmaüs Pointe Rouge
In December, the CMA CGM Foundation also organized a collection of toys, books and children's clothes in a "toy container" set up in front of the CMA CGM Tower. Thanks to the help of CMA CGM employees, Emmaüs was able to collect donations for the families it supports. - La Reynarde castle children’s home
Finally, to help children in need, the CMA CGM Foundation is donating funds to renovate the Family Center and build a city stadium.
"With poverty on the rise, the CMA CGM Group Foundation, as a family-owned company, felt the need to get the ball rolling in Marseille so that families and children in financial difficulty could spend the holidays in dignity. This action confirms our Foundation's unwavering commitment and desire to make a difference in the region," said Tanya Saadé Zeenny, Chairwoman of the CMA CGM Foundation, at the inauguration of the Secours Populaire warehouse.
