“Giving Across North America” is an annual initiative by the CMA CGM Foundation aimed at combating food insecurity in North America.
Now in its fourth year, the initiative involves distributing locally sourced turkeys, hot meals, and bags of essential food staples to individuals in need in cities throughout Canada and the United States, U.S.
In October, the CMA CGM Foundation joined forces with Sun Youth Organization and Moisson Montreal to distribute 1,000 turkeys to families in need in Montréal, Canada. In November, the Foundation partnered with the Salvation Army in the U.S. to distribute thousands of turkeys, bags of food staples, and hot meals in three cities: Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, and Norfolk, VA.
Most of the turkeys were delivered by CEVA Logistics and unloaded and distributed by more than 250 CMA CGM staff member volunteers at the partner NGO’s distribution centers in the two countries.
Later this year, the Foundation's support will also facilitate the purchase of additional bags of holiday food staples to be distributed across New York City, NY, and Norfolk, VA.
At the culmination of this initiative, the CMA CGM Foundation would have donated and distributed a combined total of 5,500 turkeys, 15,130 bags of food staples, and 350 hot meals for homebound seniors.
“Giving Across North America 2023” would have thus ensured that more than 133,000 warm delicious holiday meals were distributed to North Americans facing hunger and food insecurity.
