This Tuesday morning, Kito de Pavant’s sailboat suffered serious damage following a collision with an unidentified floating object while sailing north of the Crozet Islands.

The crew of CMA CGM Marion Dufresne immediately changed course in order to rescue the skipper as soon as possible. The ship was the closest vessel to the sailboat in distress, and will be on site in about ten hours.

CMA CGM has been operating the Marion Dufresne, a supply vessel for the French Southern Lands and the largest French ocean vessel owned by the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF), since 1995.
