150 CMA CGM Group Staff Members United for Restos du Cœur's 2025 national food drive

Reading time: 5 min

  • In a collective effort to fight food insecurity, 150 CMA CGM Group staff members are joining forces with Restos du Cœur for the 2025 National Food Drive, taking place from March 7 to 9. This initiative is in response to the CMA CGM Foundation’s call to action, with staff members mobilized at both the Entrepôt Solidaire in Marseille and the Restos du Cœur warehouse in Le Havre.
  • In the Bouches-du-Rhône department, the operation will take place for the first time at the Entrepôt Solidaire, a major social innovation launched by the CMA CGM Foundation and key food aid organizations.
  • In 2024, the CMA CGM Foundation also contributed to the development of Restos du Cœur’s new warehouse in Le Havre.
  • Since 2022, the CMA CGM Foundation has played a key role in supporting the associations’ food distribution efforts, enabling the distribution of 2 million meals through a combination of logistical, financial, and human support.

The CMA CGM Foundation continues its commitment to the fight against food insecurity as part of the Restos du Coeur 2025 national food drive taking place from March 7 to 9.

150 CMA CGM Group staff members will be mobilized to collect food in supermarkets and sort the donated goods at the Entrepôt Solidaire in Marseille and the Restos du Coeur warehouse in Le Havre.

Donations collected in Bouches-du-Rhône are sorted and stored at the Entrepôt Solidaire before being distributed throughout the department, helping to meet the food needs of many people in precarious situations. At the national level, this year's goal is to collect 9,000 tons of food, equivalent of 9 million meals, in order to strengthen Restos du Coeur’s supply, diversify the donations’ type and work on the nutritional quality of meals distributed.

The CMA CGM Foundation, logistics partner of the Restos du Coeur: L'Entrepôt Solidaire in Marseille and a new warehouse in Le Havre

In December 2024, the CMA CGM Foundation inaugurated the Entrepôt Solidaire in Marseille, a modern and secure warehouse shared by five major food aid associations, including Restos du Coeur. This 5,000m2 warehouse has a storage capacity of 3,200 tonnes of food and 360 m2 of cold storage rooms that can hold up to 300 pallets of fresh and frozen products. This optimizes the logistics and supply to the various distribution centers, while ensuring a varied and balanced diet. Thanks to l’Entrepôt Solidaire, Restos du Coeur des Bouches-du-Rhône has been able to centralize all its logistics activities and establish its departmental headquarters here.

Last week's visit to the Entrepôt Solidaire by Catherine Vautrin, the French Minister of Labor, Health, Solidarity, and Families, highlights the French government's support fort to this innovative project of the CMA CGM Foundation and the associations, the only one of its kind in France.

In September 2024, Restos du Coeur inaugurated a new warehouse in Le Havre, equipped with support from the CMA CGM Foundation. Equipped with additional storage containers, this site plays a key role in distributing food aid throughout Seine-Maritime, helping meet the increasing needs of vulnerable populations and fostering social integration.

Logistical, financial and human support from the CMA CGM Foundation

Since 2022, the CMA CGM Foundation has supported the Restos du Coeur through a global partnership, providing logistical, financial and human support. This partnership has enabled the distribution of 2 million meals, with a particular focus on the Bouches-du-Rhône and Le Havre. The Foundation also regularly mobilizes CMA CGM Group staff members to carry out solidarity initiatives, such as collecting meals and preparing food drives.

The CMA CGM Foundation also carries out other solidarity initiatives in France and abroad, particularly to fight food insecurity. To date, the Foundation enabled the distribution of over 10 million meals across the world. It supports many food aid associations in France, both in mainland France and in Overseas territory, and contributes to initiatives such as the distribution of food parcels in Lebanon and the construction of a community kitchen in Beirut capable of serving up to 3,000 meals a day. Around the world, the CMA CGM Foundation carries out local initiatives, in particular with the Salvation Army in the United States and the Egyptian Food Bank in Egypt. Beyond its work with Restos du Cœur, the CMA CGM Foundation supports a range of solidarity initiatives both in France and abroad, tackling food insecurity on a global scale. To date, the Foundation has enabled the distribution of over 10 million meals worldwide, supporting food aid organizations in France, Lebanon, the United States, Egypt, and other countries.
